·      During laser hair removal, a laser beam passes through the epidermal layers of the skin to individual hair follicles. Over a full course of laser hair removal treatments, tailored to individual needs, by our Laser Specialists, clients can expect to see dramatic results.

FAQs

Why u
se the Polaris 1064nm Long Pulsed Nd:YAG laser?

The Nd:YAG laser is a medical grade laser used for various medical procedures with clinically trialed and proven efficacy. We chose this laser as it has been proven to work effectively to reduce hair grown on all Fitzpatrick skin types, from very fair complexions all the way to very dark black skin, inclusive of the entire spectrum in-between.

One of the many advantages of using Laser light at 1064nm is that melanin absorption is very low. As a result the risk of burns and skin pigmentation damage, either hyper or hypo, is very low, making long pulsed Nd:YAG lasers the only choice for hair removal on skin types III-VI (all skin types).

Why resort to a medically orientated clinic for laser hair removal?

There are many alternatives available on the market, however we find that time after time, clients come to Belgravia Aesthetics having tried other light-based hair removal options as well as other non-doctor run services, with more problems than they bargained for, such as burns and pigmentation problems as well as no visible results hair-growth reduction.  These clients are then unfortunately forced to invest in further treatments to correct the problems they have encountered.

It is important to consider laser hair removal as a medical procedure with the use of advanced yet very sensitive equipment which requires not only specialist training for its use, but also a sound background knowledge of human anatomy and physiology alongside the ability to assess, diagnose and treat potential problems in order to ensure both an effective and safe treatment. For this purpose, the staff at Belgravia Aesthetics span from a medical background with further specialist training in aesthetics.

Who is not suitable for laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is not effective on those with red, blonde, light or white hairs. This is because light based systems function by targeting the melanin in the hair follicle, if there is no melanin to target, i.e. the afore mentioned hair types, the laser will not be absorbed and therefore is unlikely to be effective.
